AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS (Spring)
Basketball Learn basketball fundamentals with a focus on teamwork in a positive and structured environment. Children will learn passing and other aspects of the game that will keep them active and help them develop skills such as hand-eye coordination. In addition, children will have an opportunity to develop leadership skills and build self-esteem as they improve their technique. Spanish FLEX Early exposure to multiple languages can have lasting benefits to students! Introductory and intermediate level spanish are available through the FLEX program. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM RULES
Dismissal • Classes will end promptly at 5:00 p.m. Parents and authorized adults must arrive at this time for pick-up. • All students will be picked up at the activity room area on the side of the building. Parents and authorized adults must come into the activity room for the first pick up with I.D. • Parents/guardians will be issued a after school numbered card during first pick up. All further pick ups will be using the card rider system. Stay in your car, line up through the school parking lot with pick up at the activity room side of the building. • Have your after school numbered card visible and your student will be brought to your car. • If the driver does not have their after school numbered card, the driver must park and enter the activity room with I.D. to pick up your student. • All after school numbered cards must be returned on the final day of the after school activity. Cost of lost cards are $10 and a student may not sign up for another after school activity until the card is returned or lost card change is paid. Late Pick Up • Parents and authorized adults will be considered late for pick-up after a five minute grace period following the end of class. • If parents or authorized adults are over 5 minutes late for pick-up more than once, the student will be dismissed from the program without a refund. • If parents or authorized adults are EVER over 15 minutes late for pick-up, the student will be dismissed from the program without a refund. • Non-YMCA students cannot and will not be taken to YMCA in the case of late pick-up. • Students cannot and will not be taken to the front office in case of a late pick-up • Instructors will never leave a student unattended, even if the parent or authorized pick-up adult is late. Instructors will work with the program point of contact to locate parents or guardians. Emergency contacts provided at registration will be called to assist in this effort. If a parent or authorized adult does not pick a student up after one hour, the police will be called and the student will be transferred to social services in accordance with Stafford County guidelines. Class cancellations and Make-Up • In the event of cancellation due to school closure or inclement weather, all students will be sent home at the regular school dismissal time. Parents and guardians are expected to stay informed regarding school closings. • The program point of contact will schedule a make-up class and will notify parents or guardians of the schedule via email.
