So PTO...what is it exactly that you do??
Glad you asked! PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization and our primary goal is to support our school and its students. PRES PTO combines the energy and talents of our parents with the amazing Park Ridge teachers to make a strong and vibrant learning experience for our children. Due to budget constraints, the county cannot always supply our school with essential technology, equipment, or materials and that's where the PTO comes in! PTO funds have bought technology like iPads and Math computer programs, along with books and teacher supplies. Currently, we are in the process of building a running track for our students!
Our volunteers help in all aspects of the school, from putting books away at the library and monitoring halls for testing, to running field day at the end of school. We also organize afterschool and evening activities (and more!). These activities help enrich the student's experience, plus it makes school a little more fun!
To provide all of these programs and activities though, we need volunteers. We don’t expect a huge time commitment from volunteers. Giving an hour of your time can be a big help to our group and the school, and we have positions and tasks to fit all schedules and interests. Just let us know whether a program, event, or activity interests you and when you might be free to help. (You don’t even have to come to the school or attend a meeting to be involved, although we’d really like to meet you personally!)
Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and few discipline problems. Involvement at the school also makes it easier to establish friendships with teachers and other parents. We promise that the time you give our group and school will be worth your while--and fun.
